Devices Available for Training

  • HFA

    Learning objectives for training on a Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer include:

    • Understand the basic principles of perimetry and visual field testing.
    • Learn to set up and maintain the Humphrey Visual Field Analyzer.
    • Master the various testing strategies and protocols available on the device.
    • Develop proficiency in patient positioning and instructions during the testing process.
    • Gain the ability to understand the test report.
    • Learn how to troubleshoot common technical issues that may arise.
    • Practice effective communication and patient interaction during the testing.
    • Comprehend the clinical significance of visual field testing in the diagnosis and management of various eye conditions.

  • CIRRUS

    Learning objectives for training on a CIRRUS HD-OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) include:

    • Understand the fundamental principles of OCT Imaging technology.
    • Learn to set up, calibrate, and maintain the CIRRUS HD-OCT device.
    • Understand the various scan patterns available on the system including Retina, Glaucoma and Anterior segment.
    • Develop proficiency in patient positioning and instructing them during the scanning process.
    • Gain the ability to capture high-quality OCT scans of the retina, optic nerve, and anterior segment.
    • Understand when a scan is poor quality and when to repeat.
    • Understand the clinical applications of OCT in diagnosing and managing various eye conditions.
    • Practice effective communication and patient interaction during OCT imaging.

  • CLARUS

    Learning objectives for training on a CLARUS Ultra-Wide Field Camera include:

    • Understand the fundamental principles of ultra-wide field retinal imaging.
    • Master the various imaging modes and settings available on the camera such as Ultra-wide field, Automontage, FAF, FFA and anterior segment.
    • Develop proficiency in patient positioning and instructing them during the imaging process.
    • Gain the ability to capture high-quality ultra-wide field retinal images, including peripheral retina and pathology.
    • Learn how to review images, edit, and separate colour channels.
    • Understand the clinical applications of ultra-wide field imaging in diagnosing and managing retinal diseases.
    • Practice effective communication and patient interaction during ultra-wide field imaging.

    These objectives should equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to use the CLARUS Ultra-Wide Field Camera effectively for comprehensive retinal imaging and evaluation.

  • IOL Master 700

    Learning objectives for IOL Master 700 Biometry training include:

    • Understand the basic principles of optical biometry and its importance in intraocular lens (IOL) calculation.
    • Learn to set up, calibrate, and maintain the IOL Master 700 device.
    • Master the various measurement modes and options available on the instrument.
    • Develop proficiency in patient positioning and cooperation during biometric measurements.
    • Gain the ability to accurately measure axial length, keratometry, anterior chamber depth, and other biometric parameters.
    • Learn how to interpret and analyse biometric data for IOL power calculation and understand when to repeat.
    • Understand the clinical applications of IOL Master 700 in cataract surgery and refractive procedures.
    • Practice effective communication and patient interaction during biometric measurements.
    • Comprehend the importance of quality control and maintaining data accuracy and integrity.

    These objectives should equip users with the knowledge and skills to perform precise biometry using the IOL Master 700 for improved outcomes in cataract surgery and other ophthalmic procedures.

Is CATS training suitable for you?

The following information is to aid your decision as to whether this route of training is suitable for you.

  • Training will be delivered to a maximum of 5 staff members in your department - please book additional sessions for groups larger than 5.
  • Training will be on your own equipment. Equipment cannot be bought into your practice to facilitate the training.
  • Both staff and equipment need to be available, and time dedicated to the session.
  • Fees are 3 hours £700, 6 hours £1100 plus VAT - please request an individual quote if outside mainland Britain.
  • Training is available Monday - Friday as standard. Saturday can booked at an additional cost.
  • A date will only be confirmed once we have received a Purchase Order. Training will not be able to take place unless we have received this order.
  • On receipt of payment and following the training, a certificate will be available for all staff who attend the session.
