Quality Assurance in the Fast Lane
Did you know that ZEISS is an official supplier of Williams Racing, Formula One team? The multi-year partnership sees ZEISS providing a range of equipment to expand the in-house measurement capabilities of their Wind Tunnel, Quality & Inspection and Protype & Test departments.
An installation of a new class-leading ZEISS METROTOM 1500 industrial computed tomography system last year marked the beginning of Williams’ journey to greater insights into the quality and integrity of their components.
To celebrate this winning partnership, Williams Racing will be joining ZEISS at MACH, giving visitors an insight into their all-important quality and inspection processes:

Operations Director for Williams Racing
Synopsis
Williams Racing will showcase how deployment of next generation metrology technology from ZEISS can speed up delivery of part to the track whilst capturing vital quality data for investigation and analysis to take advantage of future performance opportunities.
Biography
James Colgate is Operations Director for Williams Racing, having first joined Williams Advanced Engineering in 2011.
James graduated from the University of Cambridge with a master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, during his time at Cambridge he also collaborated with the Federation Internationale De L’Automobile examining the links between regulation, performance and financial performance within the context of Formula One.
Prior to joining Williams, James worked for global management consultancy firm OC&C Strategy Consultants providing advisory services across the technology, industrial and FMCG sectors, joining Williams Advanced Engineering in 2011. James’ following roles within Williams have been guided by his aptitude for strategic planning and management, culminating with 2 years as Group Strategy Director, setting out Group Strategy along with leading M&A activities on behalf of the Board.
In his current role, James is responsible for the delivery of the team’s Formula One racing cars to track, as well as the provision of manufacturing solutions and overall infrastructure to the wider company.
